Guideline Specifications GORDON WinLok™ ACCESSIBLE SOFFIT or CEILING SYSTEM1 DIVISION 09 54 00 or 07 42 93 PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. Drawings and general provisions of the contract, including general conditions, supplementary conditions and Division-1 General Requirements, apply to work of this section. 1.2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION A. The WinLok™ Accessible Soffit System1 is fully accessible. The system consists of a suspension system made of extruded aluminum members, WinLok™ spring clips/brackets, and aluminum panels to form a continuous ceiling surface. B. Specified panel engages the WinLok™ spring clips/brackets torsion spring suspension assembly. All fasteners are concealed. 1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Manufacturer: Furnish components from one (1) manufacturer with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the fabrication of extruded aluminum ceiling specialties. B. Installer: Firm with not less than three (3) years of successful experience in the installation of systems similar to those required by this project and acceptable to manufacturer of the system. 1.4 REFERENCES A. ASTM C635, Standard Specifications for Metal Suspension Systems for Acoustical Tile and Lay-In Panel Ceilings. B. ASTM C636, Recommended Practice for Installation of Metal Suspension System for Acoustical Tile and Lay-In Panels. C. CISCA Ceiling Systems Installation Handbook. 1.5 SUBMITTALS A. Product Data: Submit manufacturer's WinLok™ Accessible Soffit System1 product specifications, detail drawings and installation instructions for each component required. PE stamped calculations from Gordon, Inc. for wind loads will be included as a part of the package. B. Submission: Must be made within ten (10) working days of the General Contract Award to avoid project delay. Of not adhered to, architect will designate exact product to be used and the contractor will have no recourse. C. Samples: Submit three (3) samples consisting of curved members with panels and torsion springs attached. D. Shop Drawings: To include location of WinLok™ Accessible Soffit System1 as well as specified finish, tolerance, panel thickness, perforation pattern, and panel size. 1.6 SEQUENCING A. Substitute Products: Alternate proposals for substitute products will not be accepted unless prior approval is issued in addenda. B. Contract Execution: Submittals shall be completed and approved prior to award of subcontract for system components. C. Manufacturer's Production Schedule: Sub-contract for the work of this section shall be planned to allow sufficient time for manufacturer's production and delivery scheduling. 1.7 WARRANTY A. General: Submit manufacturer's warranty that materials furnished will perform as specified for a period of not less than one (1) year when installed in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURER A. WinLok™ Accessible Soffit System1 shall be manufactured by Gordon Exterior Specialties Division, Gordon, Inc., 5023 Hazel Jones Road, Bossier City, LA 71111, (800) 747-8954, Fax (800) 877-8746, www.gordonexteriors.com, sales@gordonexteriors.com . B. The products specified herein are standard manufactured products of the listed manufacturer. The aluminum system has been carefully selected to produce functional and aesthetic considerations. C. System must be manufactured in the U.S.A. 2.2 PRODUCT CONSTRUCTION A. WinLok™ Accessible Soffit System1 shall be manufactured of aluminum components. Suspension components shall be extruded aluminum of standard 6063 T-5 or T-6 aluminum alloy. 2.3 MATERIALS A. WinLok™ Accessible Soffit System1 shall be manufactured of aluminum components. Suspension components shall be extruded aluminum of standard 6063 T-5 or T-6 aluminum alloy. Stainless steel torsion springs are field installed to the suspension system assembly at the appropriate module size. B. Panels shall be aluminum 3003-H14, 5005-H14 or 5052-H32 and engage the suspension system with concealed WinLok™ spring clips/brackets torsion spring. Panels are 0.050" minimum thickness. Panels are perforated or non-perforated based on Architectural Drawings, have up-turned edges with engagement slots for torsion spring engagement. 2.4 FABRICATION A. Provide factory WinLok™ suspension for the specified module. B. Panels engage WinLok™ spring clips/brackets. 2.5 FINISHES A. Paint Finishes 1. All cut edges, including perforated holes must be coated. Finish shall be cured and oven baked to insure paint adhesion and uniform surface hardness. 2. Paint color to be selected from: (Exterior) a. GreenWood™ Wood Grain Films laminate – (Specify Exterior or Interior Grade laminates) 1. All Panels shall be laminated with the specified wood pattern_________________________. 2. Panels to be identified as interior or exterior and noted if UV protection is required. 3. Custom patterns available, please contact Gordon with selected Wood Grain sample or a close or equivalent pattern. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 INSPECTION A. Examination of surfaces: Installer must examine conditions under which work is to be performed and must notify contractor in writing of unsatisfactory conditions. B. Verify that field measurements and block-out dimensions are as shown on shop drawings. 3.2 INSTALLATION A. General: Comply with manufacturer’s printed instructions, with governing regulations for Seismic Codes, and with the Ceiling & Interior Systems Construction Association standards applicable to work. B. Space Enclosure: Do not install any work until space is enclosed and weatherproofed, wet-work in space is completed and nominally dry, work above ceilings is complete, and temperature and humidity shall be continuously maintained at values near those of final occupancy. 3.3 CLEANING A. Cleaning of factory-finished parts, if necessary, should be accomplished with a detergent solution such as TSP-90 or Ivory. 3.4 PROTECTION A. Procedures: Care should be taken during the remainder of construction to protect the WinLok™ Accessible Soffit System1 from damage. B. Damage to finished work: Finished units shall be without damage. Damage shall be repaired by the contractor at the expense of the party damaging the material, as in accordance with the contract requirements. 3.5 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY A. Variation from specification: Any variation from this specification resulting in additional cost to any other contractor or subcontractor on this project shall be the sole financial responsibility of the contractor for the work of this section. 1 US Patent No: US 10,113,317 B1
