Guideline Specifications GORDON ALUMA VAULT CEILING SYSTEM 1000 DIVISION 09 5450 PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. Drawings and general provisions of the contract, including general conditions, supplementary conditions and Division-1 General requirements, apply to work of this section. 1.2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION A. The System 1000 Aluma Vault ceiling system can be provided as a flat or an undulating convex or concave vault, curved to virtually any radius and provided in any overall length or width. The system consists of pre-finished extruded aluminum main tees, curved as required. Infill panels as specified are laid into grid system and secured with hold-down clips. The entire system may be trimmed with Contura (an extruded aluminum suspended perimeter trim) or other custom perimeter trims as specified. 1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Manufacturer: Furnish components from one (1) manufacturer with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the fabrication of extruded aluminum ceiling specialties. B. Installer: Firm with not less than three (3) years of successful experience in the installation of systems similar to those required by this project and acceptable to manufacturer of the system. 1.4 REFERENCES A. ASTM C636, Recommended Practice for Installation of Metal Suspension System for Acoustical Tile and Lay-In Panels. C. CISCA Ceiling Systems Installation Handbook. 1.5 SUBMITTALS A. Product Data: Submit manufacturer's System 1000 Aluma Vault product specifications, detail drawings, and installation instructions for each component required. B. Submission: Must be made within ten (10) working days of the General Contract Award to avoid project delay. If not adhered to, architect will designate exact product to be used and the contractor will have no recourse. C. Samples: Submit three (3) samples consisting of tees, curved as required, with panels and hold down clips attached. Provide perimeter trim sample as required. D. Shop Drawings: To include location of System 1000 Aluma Vault ceiling system as well as specified radii, panel type, finish, tolerances, and panel size. 1.6 SEQUENCING A. Substitute Products: Alternate proposals for substitute products will not be accepted unless approval is issued in addenda. B. Contract Execution: Submittals shall be completed and approved prior to award of subcontract for system components. C. Manufacturer's Production Schedule: Sub-contract for the work of this section shall be planned to allow sufficient time for manufacturer's production and delivery scheduling. 1.7 WARRANTY A. General: Submit manufacturer's warranty that materials furnished will perform as specified for a period of not less than one (1) year when installed in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURER A. Aluma Vault Ceiling System 1000 shall be manufactured by Gordon Interior Specialties Division, Gordon, Inc., 5023 Hazel Jones Road, Bossier City, LA 71111, (800) 747-8954, Fax (800) 877-8746, www.gordoninteriors.com, sales@gordoninteriors.com. B. The listed manufacturer shall not be construed as closing specifications to other prospective manufacturers, but rather as establishing a level of quality in a metal system. Other systems may be submitted for approval, as provided for in the specifications at least 10 working days prior to submission of bids. Companies desiring to submit a proposal shall submit all descriptive information of the system proposed including photographs and shop drawings of at least three projects similar in detail and scope. 2.2 PRODUCT CONSTRUCTION A. System 1000 Aluma Vault shall be manufactured of aluminum components. Suspension components shall be extruded aluminum of standard 6063 T-5 aluminum alloy, curved to specified radii. 2.3 MATERIALS A. System 1000 Aluma Vault shall be manufactured of 15/16” exposed flange extruded aluminum components. Grid components shall be of standard 6063 T-5 aluminum alloy, curved to specified radius. B. Panel to be chosen from manufacturer’s full range of options and laid into grid system and secured with hold-down clips to conform to the specified radius. Panel pattern and module size as specified. C. Optional Accessories: 1. 2" Contura extruded aluminum perimeter trim may be curved, arched, or reverse-arched to conform to the profile of the System 1000 Aluma Vault system and provides a finished edge detail. 2. Other perimeter trims available as specified. 3. Black or white sound absorbing non-woven fabric backer - NRC .70-.85 or PVC wrapped acoustical pad is also available as specified. Contact factory for suitability with specified panel. 2.4 FABRICATION A. Provide factory curved main tees to specified radius, which is not smaller than 24”. B. Panels are factory cut to lay into specified module or to meet project parameters. C. Furnish hold-down clips. D. Provide necessary hardware for cross tee, main tee, and perimeter attachment as required. E. Optional accessory (2" Contura): Furnish extruded aluminum perimeter trim, which is fabricated as specified. F. Other perimeter trims available as required. 2.5 FINISHES A. Factory finishing is to be supplied to match color specifications. Factory finish is a water-borne cross-linked acrylic that is equal to or exceeds factory-baked enamel, two-component epoxy or two-component urethane. Meets all Federal and State Clean Air Standards, U.S.D.A. approved. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 INSPECTION A. Examination of surfaces: Installer must examine conditions under which work is to be performed and must notify contractor in writing of unsatisfactory conditions. B. Verify that field measurements and block-out dimensions are as shown on shop drawings. 3.2 INSTALLATION A. General: Comply with manufacturer’s printed instructions, governing regulations for Seismic Codes, and the Ceiling & Interior Systems Construction Association standards applicable to work. B. Space Enclosure: Do not install any work until space is enclosed and weatherproofed, wet-work in space is completed and nominally dry, work above ceilings is complete, and temperature and humidity shall be continuously maintained at values near those of final occupancy. 3.3 CLEANING A. Cleaning of factory-finished parts, if necessary, should be accomplished with a detergent solution such as TSP-90 or Ivory. 3.4 PROTECTION A. Procedures: Care should be taken during the remainder of construction to protect System 1000 Aluma Vault from damage. B. Damage to finished work: Finished units shall be without damage. Damage shall be repaired by the contractor at the expense of the party damaging the material, as in accordance with the contract requirements. 3.5 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY A. Variation from specification: Any variation from this specification resulting in additional cost to any other contractor or subcontractor on this project shall be the sole financial responsibility of the contractor for the work of this section. 1
