Guideline Specifications GORDON DECORATIVE METAL MILLENNIUM® CEILING PANEL SYSTEM DIVISION 09 5400 or 09 5100 Note To Specifier: MILLENNIUM Ceiling Panels are a finished, decorative product and should be installed by tradesmen that are experienced in handling finished products. Decorative MILLENNIUM Ceiling Panel system should be specified in Division 9-Finishes. PART 1-GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS Drawings and General Provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 1 Specifications Sections apply to this Section. 1.2 SUMMARY A. This section includes MILLENNIUM Metal Ceiling Panel and suspension system as shown on drawings. B. The AV-1000ML Ceiling System can be provided as a flat or an undulating convex or concave vault, curved to virtually any radius and provided in any overall length or width. The system consists of pre-finished extruded aluminum main tees, curved as required. MILLENNIUM infill panels as specified are laid into grid system and secured with hold-down clips. The entire system may be trimmed with Contura (an extruded aluminum suspended perimeter trim) or other custom perimeter trims as specified. C. Related Sections include the following: 1.3 SUBMITTALS A. Manufacturer’s Literature and Data: 1. Product Data: Submit manufacturer’s technical data and brochures for each type of MILLENNIUM ceiling panel and suspension system required. B. Shop Drawings: 1. Shop drawings shall show dimensions, sizes, thickness, alloys, tempers, finishes, joining, attachments, and relationship of adjoining work. C. Samples: 1. Samples shall include 5” x 7” piece of each type of metal and finish as specified, and extrusions if required. D. Certification: 1. Submit certificates from manufacturer of ceiling panels attesting that products comply with specified requirements including finish as specified. E. Qualification Data: 1. Firms specified in “Quality Assurance” Article must demonstrate their capabilities and experience by including lists of completed projects with project names and addresses, names and addresses of architects and owners, and other information specified. 1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Manufacturer: Firm with manufacturing and delivery capacity required for the project, shall have successfully completed at least ten projects within the past five years, utilizing systems, materials and techniques as herein specified. B. Fabricator must own and operate its own manufacturing facilities for all metal components. “Stick Built” or “Kit of Parts Systems” consisting of components from a variety of manufacturers will not be considered or accepted. C. Manufacturer/Fabricator must own and operate its own Painting and Finishing facility to assure single source responsibility and quality control. 1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE & HANDLING All material shall be protected during fabrication, shipment, site storage and erection to prevent damage to the finished work from other trades. Store ceiling panels, suspension tees, and hardware inside a well-ventilated area, away from uncured concrete and masonry, and protected from weather, moisture, soiling, abrasion, extreme temperatures, and humidity. PART 2 – PRODUCTS 2.1 MANUFACTURER A. MILLENNIUM® Metal Ceiling Panel and suspension system shall be manufactured by Gordon Interior Specialties Division, Gordon, Inc., 5023 Hazel Jones Road, Bossier City, LA 71111, (800) 747-8954, Fax (800) 877-8746, www.gordoninteriors.com, sales@gordoninteriors.com. B. The listed manufacturer shall not be construed as closing specifications to other prospective manufacturers, but rather as establishing a level of quality in a metal system. Other systems may be submitted for approval as provided for in the specification at least 10 working days prior to submission of bids. Companies desiring to submit a proposal shall submit all descriptive information of the system proposed including photographs and shop drawings of at least three projects similar in detail and scope. 2.2 MATERIALS Note to Specifier: Textured products may have surface imperfections resulting from the texturing process. The pattern will not align from part to part due to standard machining tolerances. Also, the pattern may not run in a straight line at bends and cuts, and half patterns may occur at bends and cuts. This is typical of textured, woven, and perforated materials. A. MILLENNIUM Metal Ceiling Panel and suspension system shall be a complete Gordon, Inc. system. Suspension components shall be manufactured of 15/16” exposed flange extruded aluminum tees, curved to specified radius. All secondary framing, anchors, clips and extrusion are to be provided as complete package of this work. No exposed fasteners for metal closures are allowed. B. General: Provide metals free from surface blemishes where exposed to view in finished unit. Surfaces exhibiting pitting, seam marks, roller marks, stains, discolorations, or other imperfections on finished units are not acceptable. All metal shall be of the highest grade, commercial type. C. Aluminum sheet shall be 3003-H14 alloy, .063” thick. [ASTM B 209 (ASTM BG 209M)] D. Aluminum Extrusion shall be 6063-T6 alloy. [ASTM B 221 (ASTM B 211M)] 1. AV2000 suspension 2. AV2000R suspension 3. AV1000 suspension E. MILLENNIUM® panels shall be three-dimensional material ¼” thick in sizes as shown on the drawings. Material shall be opaque in frontal view, with approximately 40% open area as required for acoustical performance. Pattern shall run the length of the sheet. (Use the following section in the event that the panels are to provide sound absorption). 2.3 ACOUSTICAL PROPERTIES A. MILLENNIUM ceiling panel may be provided as an option with PVC encapsulated fiberglass. 2.4 FABRICATION A. Provide factory curved main tees to specified radius, which is not smaller than 24” B. Nominal ___” wide (up to 60”) X ___” long (up to 120”) modules flat, or curved (can be arched at one consistent radius or undulating). Main runners on curved systems are factory formed to follow the path of the curve. Cross runners are straight. Millennium ceiling panels are flexible in the width dimension and follow curve of main runner and are held in place with Hold Down clips as required. C. Additional support for panels required for panels wider than 30” using JM clip assembly. D. Straight sides of system will have straight wall angle when attached to perimeter walls or Contura perimeter trim when floating off of the perimeter walls. . E. Arched sides of system will have curved wall angle when attached to perimeter walls or Contura perimeter trim when floating off of the perimeter walls. . 2.5 FINISHES A. Standard Interior Grade Finishes 1. MILLENNIUM Metal Ceiling Panel and suspension system shall receive a micro-etched pretreatment prior to receiving an electrostatically applied Acrylic-Polyester hybrid powder coat paint finish. 2. All cut edges, including perforated holes must be coated. Finish shall be cured and oven baked to insure paint adhesion and uniform surface hardness. 3. Paint color to be selected from: a. Gordon ACROGUARD® High Performance Powder Coat Color Chart, PDR-______________. b. Gordon Standard Powder Coat Chart, PDR-_________________. c. Special Color ___________________________. OR A. Exterior Grade High Performance Finishes All MILLENNIUM panels shall receive a factory applied and baked finish of a (choose from below)% PVDF (Kynar? or Hylar 5000?) paint. 1. IF 70% polyvinylidene fluoropolymer (PVDF) resin (Kynar? or Hylar?) is required, specify Fluropon? or Fluropon Classic? II paint (appropriate for interior or exterior use). PART 3-EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION A. Install ceiling system in accordance with manufacturer’s written installation instructions and shop drawings. B. Ceiling Panels shall be erected plumb, level, square, true to line, securely anchored, and in proper alignment and relationship to work of other trades. C. Ceiling Panels shall be inspected before installation to be free from dents, scratches, and other defects. 3.2 CLEANING A. Removal of protective covering shall occur immediately after installation to prevent adhesive transfer. B. Clean all surfaces following installation. C. Maintenance per manufacturer’s finish maintenance instructions. 3.3 PROTECTION A. Protection of wall panels from damage by other trades after installation to be provided by general contractor. 3.4 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY A. Any variation from this specification resulting in additional cost to any other contractor or subcontractor on this project shall be the sole financial responsibility of the contractor for the work of this section. .
